Offers Solid Blend of Business, Political and Community Service

January 15, 2021 – Joyce Bateman, today announced her intention to seek the nomination for the Conservative Party of Canada in the federal riding of Winnipeg South Centre.

Since being elected and serving as Member of Parliament 2011-2015 and serving her community as an elected School Trustee from 2001-2011, Bateman has served on the Parliamentary Committees of Finance, Public Accounts, Industry, Official Languages and Status of Women and served as the Chair of the Board of Trustees and as Chair of Finance and many community servicecommittees in support of our children.

In these civic and national leadership roles, she delivered a successful Private Members’ Bill, Bill C-627 on Rail Safety, which not only solved a rail crossing concern in her federal riding, but made every rail crossing throughout Canada safer. “Successful private members bills demonstrate the ability to work effectively with all parliamentarians, regardless of political stripe, for the public good.  We have never needed these skills more than now and I am honoured to step up to the challenge,” said Bateman.

To this, Bateman adds a wealth of experience as a Chartered Accountant, CPA, businessperson, and advocate for her community where she and her husband have raised their family.

“This is the right time to step forward with my unique skill set and experience and offer a positive, compassionate and ethical alternative at the federal level,” said Bateman.  “My goal is being able to impact and improve upon the lives of Canadians in an unprecedented time of health and economic challenges.”

In seeking the nomination, Bateman said she will be honoured and humbled to represent Winnipeg South Centre as the Conservative candidate in the next federal election.

“I’m a listener and a positive team player,” she said, “so I am very pleased to use my skills to work together with my community to achieve great things for Winnipeg South Centre.
